Peridot is the Birthstone for August

Like many individuals born in the month of August, the Peridot is a gem full of positive energy. Legend has it that the peridot not only elicits positive energy but at the same time, suppresses selfishness, jealousy and ego. The Egyptians called peridot the “gem of the sun” and believed it had special healing powers. It is one of the few gems that occur in only one color, albeit in varying shades – Green! Peridot and diamonds are the only two gems that are formed deep in the mantle of the earth; Peridot is found in lava, and in some meteorites from space.
